Case Study 1: Entrance control for paid ticketing
Event: Design Shanghai, organised by Media 10, in Shanghai China
Opportunity:
Focused on bringing together exceptional design, quality and inspiration, Design Shanghai is Asia’s biggest design event welcoming visitors from across the world as well as some of the most recognised and established global design brands from China and beyond. Tickets for this coveted event are highly sought-after which unfortunately led to admission tickets and exhibitor name badges being passed on to other colleagues.
Building on their existing relationship, Media 10 enlisted Info Salons to help control the ticketing at the entrance to the event without the use of exit stamps or plastic bracelets.
Formulate & Build:
Info Salons needed a way to ensure that attendees who had purchased tickets legally were treated with respect and speed, whilst stopping those tickets that were garnered through illegal scalpers or by passing tickets onto other colleagues.
Our research found that in 99% of all cases, the ticket purchaser went through the entry gates initially before passing tickets onto colleagues or friends. We used our specially enhanced entrance control gates which scanned the ticket barcode and then immediately took a photo of the attendee.
On any subsequent entry whenever the ticket was scanned again, our software would check that the attendee matched the facial ID on record before allowing the gate to open.
The Prognosis: A Healthy Amount of Tickets Sold
It's no surprise that Design Shanghai continues to grow in size and space. The Info Salons FR platform allowed 70,000 visitors from around the world to quickly enter the event. Many visitors bought new tickets onsite when they were denied entry due to using someone else's ticket or badge.
Case Study 2: Entrance control for security
Event: NEPCON ASIA, organised by Reed Exhibitions China, in Shenzhen, China
Opportunity:
NEPCON ASIA is one of the biggest product and technology procurement platforms for the electronics manufacturing industry in China. Boasting the longest standing history, it gathers over 800 leading brand names from around the globe together with 60,000 buyers, who participate in this world-class event. During the three-day event, trade visitors are exposed to the industry’s latest products and materials. By means of well-designed seminars and forums, visitors also have the opportunity to keep up-to-date on the latest trends and applications. A combination of six exhibitions in one, NEPCON ASIA serves as a channel via which the entire electronics manufacturing industry can connect.
Registration requires full trade ID verification for this popular event. Due to the large attendance, name badges are highly sought-after which generated the undesirable practice of "ticket scalping".
With a strong relationship spanning more than 25 years and 3 continents, Reed enlisted Info Salons to help control the entrance to the event, allowing only verified trade buyers or exhibitors entry and barring fake name badges.
Formulate & Build:
Gathering information on attendees during the registration process meant that we could stipulate the terms of entry; that being their facial ID was required to ensure that the name badge remained the ownership of the registrant. During registration, attendees and exhibitors could simply upload or take a photo which was then saved within our system as a vectorised number. Full security for personal data was maintained as no JPEG or picture was stored within the system.
The Prognosis: Fast entry to validated trade visitors & exhibitors

Study 3: Badge printing using Fast Track
Event: Ai Everything, organised by DWTC in Dubai, UAE
Opportunity:
An exhibition marketplace of deployable AI solutions, Ai Everything maximizes exposure within the AI ecosystem, helps startups raise capital and facilitates interactions between key players. The exhibition runs with an immersive Summit fuelled by power talks, networking and animations. Ai Everything also addresses AI’s impact on society and crucial AI challenges worldwide and in the Middle East.
Info Salons has been working with DWTC since we opened our office in Dubai in 2007. Providing state-of-the-art technology is essential for this organiser, especially for Ai Everything which is touted as the Year’s Most Anticipated & Empowering AI Summit for Governments, Businesses, Social Enterprises & the Creative Economy.
Formulate & Build:
Deploying the Info Salons FR platform for Fast Track Badge Printing would enhance the overall experience for the attendees. We integrated our registration system with the Amazon Rekognition platform to provide highly accurate facial analysis and facial recognition on images that the registrants provided. We could thereby detect, analyse, and compare faces for verification.
The system's deep learning technology is continually trained on new data to expand its ability to recognize objects, scenes, and activities to improve its ability to accurately recognize.
The Prognosis: Attendees were delighted with the cutting edge technology
Fast track badge printing stations were built into the front-of-house structure at the event. Attendees simply scanned their face or their barcode to instantly receive their printed name badge for the event.
According to Ms. Trixee LohMirmand, Senior Vice President DWTC, "In future AI shall reduce many activities from days to minutes to seconds. With Info Salons integrated Amazon Teknology achievement of 8 seconds for a visitor registration admission process is fascinating. I'm delighted we partnered with Info Salons for Ai Everything in Dubai, one of the biggest AI events in the world."
